Terroir Meets Merroir at 40 Knots

I recently attended a beautiful long table dinner at 40 Knots Vineyard & Estate Winery.

As part of the BC Seafood Festival this year, the Terroir Meets Merroir long table dinner was a lovely seafood-focused 6 course meal prepared by Chef Alain Chabot of Chez Vous Artisan Foods.

The menu included the following dishes:

Canapés paired with 40 Knots Rosé:

Natural Pastures Ricotta Gnocci paired with 40 Knots Pinot Gris

Marinated Seafood Salad paired with 40 Knots Unoaked Chardonnay

  • Gallo Mussels, Manila Clams, Local Greens, Fennel, 40 Knots Chardonnay Sabayon

Sablefish Mi-Fume paired with 40 Knots Pinot Noir 115

  • Wild Mushroom Fricasse, Local Beets, Poultry Jus

Braised Local Grass Fed Beef Cheeks paired with 40 Knots Stall Speed Meritage

  • Garlic Scape Pomme Pure, Local Carrots and Radish, Thyme Jus

Kehler Farms Strawberry and Rhubarb Tart paired with 40 Knots Fallen Apple

  • Chez Vous French Vanilla Glace

The lively bouquet and complex finish of the 40 Knots Meritage, paired with the delicately braised beef cheeks stole the show. Between the steady vines at 40 Knots, this inviting red wine was a welcome addition to the warm June evening.
